Rainbow history

Skittles began being produced in 1974 in Europe, within five years they had made their way to the United States by exportation. By 1982 skittles were being made in the United States by Mars candy. Skittles started with five original flavors which were lemon (yellow), lime (green), orange (orange), strawberry (red), and grape (purple). The purple has always been grape in North America, but blackcurrant flavored everywhere else. In 1989 Skittles introduced two new flavor packs tropical and wild berry. The green skittle was a representation of green apple during a brief period of time in 2001; however, after the promotion it was back to lime. Mars vows that in each bag of skittles there is 20 percent of each color.
Personally I think the green is the worst skittle and should probably return to green apple. The tropical and wild berry flavor packs are also disgusting. I disagree with the 20 percent because I have gotten bags that are loaded with green and I want my $1.09 back. It wasn't until 2000 that Skittles released my favorite flavor pack; Sour skittles. Sour Skittles are the best flavor combination and even the green doesn't taste bad. There is nothing better than eating a pack of skittles and looking at your rainbow colored tongue I suggest you try it. In the future I would like to see a new flavor come aboard; maybe a blue or a black.

Kyle, do you know why the green skittle was converted back to lime from green apple in 2001? Did the public not like the flavor or was it just a limited time offer?
ReplyDeleteIt was just a limited time promotion bud @Lauren Milam
